A Year of Stories/Week 5

Week 5 already? Time is a flyin'.

My story this week is our weekend. My parents own a family vacation spot in Nellysford, Virginia....the neighborhood is actually a part of Wintergreen Ski Resort but not on top of the mountain, it's in the valley. It has become a second home to us and we all (my parents and siblings included) enjoy every second we spend there. As you'll see, the backyard view is a little slice of heaven.

With our busy schedules, it was just my little family there over the weekend. So we loaded up Friday and headed "home" after work. It's only an hour and 45 minutes from Richmond so the trip is easy and we have our travel routine down...picking up Daddy at work and stopping on the way in for groceries at the local market. Oh, and Sophie got the best xmas gift this year, an outdoor digital camera. We strapped it to a tree out front to see what the sensor could capture in between visits. Our first time checking the memory card (we hadn't been back since New Year's weekend) and we got foxes, too many deer to count, and a January snow storm leaving 18 inches on the ground. Sophie was thrilled to say the least.

Then Saturday we ventured out into our weekend hood. If you ever get out that way, you must experience highway 151. Loaded with breweries, wineries and now cideries it's like a teeny tiny Napa on the east coast. The views are breathtaking, the wines are award winning, and there is something for everyone along Nelson 151.

So here is a tiny glimpse of our adventures this weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
